How it works

Your Drive stays the source of truth

  1. Write in Google Docs

Keep your session notes, NPCs and lore in the Docs you already use. Nothing about your Drive has to change.

  2. Pick the Docs

Connect your Google account and choose Docs with Google's own file picker. DM Kit can only see the files you pick.

  3. Sync when you want

Press Sync now in DM Kit. New text, edits and renames are copied in. Nothing runs in the background.

  4. Use them in DM Kit

Your Docs land in Notes Memory, ready for Lore Keeper answers and for the tools that read your campaign.

Set up

Connected in a minute

You need a free DM Kit account and a Google account. Your Docs stay in Google: DM Kit keeps a text copy.

  1. Open Notes Memory

In DM Kit open Notes Memory, choose Sync with other Apps, then the Google Drive tab.

  2. Connect Google

Press Connect Google Drive, read the short explainer and approve the single permission Google asks for. It can be a different Google account than the one you sign in with.

  3. Add documents

Press Add documents and tick the Docs for this campaign in Google's picker.

  4. Sync

Picking Docs starts a first sync. Press Sync now whenever you want newer edits. Each Doc appears in Notes Memory with a Google Docs badge and a link back to the original.

Scope and privacy

Small on purpose

What it does

  • Reads only the Google Docs you pick, with Google's narrow drive.file permission
  • Copies the text of each Doc into your own DM Kit account, over HTTPS
  • Syncs one way, from Google to DM Kit, and only when you pick Docs or press Sync now
  • Keeps the copy read-only: edit in Google Docs, then sync again
  • Stores its Google access encrypted and revokes it when you disconnect

What it never does

  • Create, edit, move, rename, share or delete anything in your Drive
  • Browse or index the rest of your Drive: it only sees the files you pick
  • Sync images, drawings, comments, Sheets, Slides or non-Google files
  • Run in the background or sync on its own
  • Sell your Google data, show ads or train AI models with it
Limits

Good to know

  • Native Google Docs only, up to 50 added at a time
  • Synced Docs count toward your Notes Memory allowance: 10 MB and 500 notes on Free, 100 MB and 5,000 notes on Pro
  • If you trash or delete a Doc in Google, its copy is removed from DM Kit on the next sync. A large batch of removals waits for your confirmation first

Stopping is always in your hands

Disconnect in DM Kit to remove this campaign's connection, then choose whether to keep or delete the notes already synced. Google access is shared across your campaigns and is revoked at Google when you disconnect the last one. You can also remove DM Kit under Third-party apps in your Google Account.

Questions

Google Drive questions

Can I sync Google Docs to DM Kit?

Yes. Connect Google Drive in Notes Memory, pick the Docs that hold your campaign and DM Kit syncs them right away. Press Sync now later to refresh them. DM Kit keeps a read-only text copy that Lore Keeper and the other tools can use.

Will DM Kit change or delete my Google Docs?

No. DM Kit only reads the Docs you pick and never creates, edits, moves, renames, shares or deletes anything in your Drive. Google describes the permission with its standard wording, but the sync only calls read endpoints.

Which Google permission does DM Kit ask for?

Only the drive.file permission, which limits access to the files you pick in Google's file picker, plus your email address to show which account is connected. DM Kit cannot see the rest of your Drive.

Do I have to sign in to DM Kit with Google?

No. Linking Google Drive is separate from signing in. You can sign in with email or Discord and still connect a Google account.

Can Lore Keeper answer from my Google Docs?

Yes. Once synced, your Docs live in Notes Memory, and Lore Keeper answers from them and shows the notes each answer came from.

Does it sync automatically?

No. Syncing is manual: DM Kit only reads your Docs when you pick them or press Sync now.

What happens if I delete a Doc in Google?

On the next sync DM Kit removes the copy of a Doc that Google reports as trashed or deleted. If many Docs would be removed at once, DM Kit pauses and asks you to confirm. If Google cannot be reached or access is denied, nothing is deleted.

Is Google Drive sync free?

Yes. It is included in both Free and Pro and counts toward your Notes Memory allowance.

What about images, Sheets and Slides?

They are not synced. Notes Memory is text only, so DM Kit copies the text of native Google Docs and does not host images, spreadsheets, slides, PDFs or media.
