Write in Obsidian. Prep with DM Kit.

Keep your campaign vault exactly as it is. The free DM Kit Sync plugin sends the Markdown notes you choose to your account, so Notes Memory, Lore Keeper and your other tools can use them.

  • Desktop only
  • Manual and one way
  • Markdown notes only
How it works

Your vault stays the source of truth

  1. Write in Obsidian

Keep your session notes, NPCs, factions and places where they already live. Nothing about your vault has to change.

  2. Choose Markdown notes

Tick the folders and notes you want in DM Kit. New notes inside a ticked folder are picked up automatically.

  3. Review and sync

The plugin lists what is new, changed, skipped and what would be removed. Nothing leaves your vault until you confirm.

  4. Use them in DM Kit

Your notes land in Notes Memory, ready for Lore Keeper answers and for the tools that read your campaign.

Set up

Connected in a few minutes

You need Obsidian 1.11.4 or newer on desktop and a free DM Kit account. The plugin does nothing without one.

  1. Install the plugin

In Obsidian open Settings, then Community plugins, search for DM Kit Sync, install it and enable it.

  2. Create a connection

In DM Kit open Notes Memory, choose Add notes, then Sync with an App, and create a connection. Copy the connection string: it is shown once.

  3. Paste and connect

In Obsidian open Settings, then DM Kit Sync, paste the connection string and press Connect.

  4. Pick notes and sync

Choose your folders, then run Review & sync from the command palette or the ribbon icon.

Scope and privacy

Small on purpose

What it does

  • Uploads only the Markdown notes you select, over HTTPS, to your own DM Kit account
  • Syncs one way, from Obsidian to DM Kit, and only when you run it
  • Stores the connection key in Obsidian's secret storage, never in your vault
  • Asks you to confirm removals, and to type the number when many notes would go

What it never does

  • Sync images, PDFs, attachments or any non-Markdown file
  • Run on mobile: it is a desktop plugin
  • Read files outside your vault or sync on its own
  • Send ads, analytics or telemetry from the plugin
Limits

Good to know

  • Markdown notes up to 2 MB each and up to 2,000 selected notes per sync
  • Synced notes count toward your Notes Memory allowance: 10 MB and 500 notes on Free, 100 MB and 5,000 notes on Pro
  • Large vaults sync in small batches with automatic retries; a note the server keeps rejecting is skipped and reported while the rest still syncs

Stopping is always in your hands

Disconnect in Obsidian to forget the key on your computer. Revoke or delete the connection in DM Kit to cut access for good. Notes already synced stay in your account until you delete them.

Questions

Obsidian questions

Is there an Obsidian plugin for D&D campaigns?

Yes. DM Kit Sync is a free Obsidian plugin that sends the Markdown notes you choose from your campaign vault to DM Kit, where Notes Memory, Lore Keeper and the other tools use them.

Can Lore Keeper answer questions from my Obsidian notes?

Yes. Once your notes are synced they live in Notes Memory, and Lore Keeper answers from them and shows the notes each answer came from.

Is the plugin free?

Yes. The plugin is free and open source, and Obsidian sync is included in both Free and Pro. You only need a DM Kit account.

Does it work on my phone?

No. DM Kit Sync is desktop only. Sync from your computer and your notes are available in DM Kit everywhere.

Will it change or delete files in my vault?

No. The plugin only reads the notes you select. Unchecking a note removes its copy from DM Kit after you review the sync, never from your vault.

What about images and attachments?

They are not synced. Notes Memory is text only, so DM Kit stores your Markdown text and does not host images, PDFs, maps, audio or video.
